Customer Announcement

Hi Orthopaedic Professional,

We want to thank our customers for choosing Phoenix Ortho. Whether you are a long-standing EHR customer, an all-in-one EHR/PM customer, using our patient intake tablet solution known as Phoenix Kiosk, leveraging the time and cost savings of our state-of-the-art AI driven automatic fax routing solution, and enjoying the increased efficiency gained from our integrated PACS, we are genuinely grateful to be able to partner with you.

Isn’t it just amazing how much and how quickly technology changes and evolves? As you can see from the many innovative workflow solutions we offer, the technology behind Phoenix Ortho is not immune to the march of progress.

With all this progress we want to remind customers to be familiar with our Scope of support. Phoenix Ortho does not support SQL or Windows versions that are discontinued by Microsoft. See our Scope of Support here*. We have recently discovered that some customers still have Windows 2008 servers. Windows  2008 left mainstream Microsoft support five years ago.

This is particularly relevant in that the MIPS 2015 update to the online components (part of Promoting Interoperability) for Phoenix Ortho Version 5 requires at least Windows 2012 and SQL 2012. The online components cover the patient portal, CCDA, and direct messaging features that are necessary for successful attestation for 2019. If your clinic is not on Windows 2012 or higher and SQL 2012 or higher, we will not be able to deploy the online components for Version 5. Remember that the Promoting Interoperability portion of MIPS 2019 is only a 90 day attestation period so if your server requires upgrades you have plenty of time for those to be put in place. We recommend upgrading OS and SQL to meet current Phoenix Ortho requirements found here.  Talk to your IT support team about whether your server meets the requirements.  If you do not have a team or are not sure, please contact our support department and we can help you evaluate your system. If you do need to upgrade your server OS and/or SQL have it completed by September 1, 2019 so there is plenty of time to deploy the web components prior to October 1.

NEW MIPS RACE REQUIREMENTS FOR 2019

MIPS 2015 now requires additional race information for every patient. Particularly a “roll-up” race and a granular race. An example of this would be a “roll-up” race of white with a granular race of European. You can read more about this requirement here.*

Unfortunately, practice management systems are not required to have these options so for most PM systems they cannot be sent across your interface and will have to be manually selected from within Phoenix Ortho. Again, please refer to our documentation for more information.

If your PM does happen to support the new race options, please open a case with both Phoenix Ortho and your PM vendor to have your interface updated. The race data will not come across the interface until it has been modified to handle said data from the PM system.

Announcing End of Support for OMR

Phoenix Ortho ceased sales and implementation of OMR in 2017 and we are announcing that June 30, 2019 is the end of support date for the OMR feature. What this means is that Phoenix Ortho will no longer develop, enhance, update or hotfix the OMR feature after June 30.

If your clinic uses OMR, the feature should continue to function as is for the foreseeable future. That said, Phoenix Ortho does not guarantee future performance and compatibility with ever-changing environmental variables such as OS updates, driver updates, new hardware, and the like.

After June 30, 2019, any support cases for OMR will be limited to set up and known configuration issue assistance only.

While OMR should continue to function, you may be interested in some of our more up-to-date patient-facing solutions. If so, please reach out to a Phoenix Ortho representative for more information.

Sincerely,

~ Your Phoenix Ortho Team
